Set up Remote
Remote reaches your Mac over the internet through Tailscale, a free service that links your own devices to each other as if they were on the same network, safely, wherever they are. Qispi only accepts connections that come through Tailscale.
On the Mac
Section titled “On the Mac”- Install Tailscale and sign in.
- In Qispi Host’s menu (the llama in the menu bar), turn on Allow Remote over Tailscale. The Remote section then says Ready on Tailscale, with your Mac’s Tailscale address.
- If you’ll be away for a while, also turn on Keep the Screen On While Remote Is Allowed. Otherwise the Mac may lock its screen while you’re away.
On the iPad, iPhone or other Mac
Section titled “On the iPad, iPhone or other Mac”Install Tailscale and sign in with the same account as on the Mac you want to reach. Keep it on when you want to reach your Mac.
Optional: black out the Mac’s screen
Section titled “Optional: black out the Mac’s screen”If someone could see your Mac’s own screen while you use it from far away, turn on Black Out This Mac’s Screen During Sessions in Qispi Host’s menu. The Mac’s monitors stay black while you’re connected, and come back as soon as you leave.
Next: pair your device.
